Petco Love Invests in the VAO!

National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Voorhees Animal Orphanage to Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in Southern New Jersey

Voorhees, NJ (April 04, 2024) – Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) is set to receive a $35,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Southern New Jersey.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.75 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Voorhees Animal Orphanage is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“We are really feeling the effects of the economy right now. Higher prices of just about everything have created the perfect storm of increased surrenders of pets and fewer stray reclaims. Shelters everywhere are full! Not to mention the cost of everything from food to medicine to cleaning supplies has increased too. Thanks to Petco Love’s incredible partnership, we will be able to breathe a little easier, and keep on doing what we do best… saving pet lives!” said Dawn Mason, Executive Director of Voorhees Animal Orphanage.

Voorhees Animal Orphanage is a nonprofit community animal shelter and adoption center dedicated to providing compassionate care to cats and dogs until a loving home can be secured. Since its inception in 1988, the VAO has saved the lives of over 40,000 cats and dogs – including over 2,100 in 2023.
