National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Voorhees Animal Orphanage To
Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in Southern New Jersey
Voorhees, NJ (May 04, 2023) – Voorhees Animal Orphanage is set to receive a $40,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Southern New Jersey.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $350 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.7 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in the Voorhees Animal Orphanage is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently launched Petco Love Lost
, a national lost and found database that uses pet image technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“The generosity from Petco Love will enable our shelter, which contracts with 28 local municipalities, to continue its lifesaving mission of over 2,000 animals per year. As an adoption center we make sure our animals are up to date with vaccines, micro-chipped, tested, and sterilized prior to adoption. This saves money for our community and helps solve root causes of overpopulation and disease. It’s impossible to do this kind of work without the support of organizations like Petco Love,” says Dawn Mason, Executive Director of the Voorhees Animal Orphanage.
Voorhees Animal Orphanage is a nonprofit community animal shelter and adoption center dedicated to providing compassionate care to homeless cats and dogs until a permanent and loving home can be secured. Since its inception in 1988, the VAO has saved the lives of over 38,000 homeless cats and dogs – including over 2,000 in 2022.
